If the new Malmo based imprint’s purpose is to ‘serve buttery bits of house with love’ as their self-description suggests, then Honey Butter Records have hit the nail on the head with their inaugural release.
There’s a common texture across all of the artists’ contribution on this VA, initiated at the onset in Swales’ chord-based love song Pushin’ Away. The sensual feeling is carried forward into Hot 2 Cold, in which native producer Ari Bald dices his samples with real accuracy and style.
Sable Blanc’s skippy beat in Musique d’Ascenseur ups the drive while maintaining the projects tender feel, before Eben Rees’ Dirty Dishes rounds the project off in some jazzy house euphoria.
Hats off to Honey Butter and all contributing artists, out early November and limited to 300 copies.
