Tampere mood series vol 4 [Vuo Records]

Josh Rawlings / May 04, 2017

Back in December last year the guys over at Vuo brought us their first record in 13 years and now they’re back for good and welcoming more names to their label. The label regulars Shuffless are joined on this release by fellow Tampere City residents Lauri Leino and Kalle-M whose respective styles add further dynamism to this well-crafted 12" and emerging label.

The first track (A1) follows on nicely from the previous Gotta Go release by Shuffless but packs way more punch. The dreamy synths, relentless bassline and thunderous kick combine once again to create the trademark techno spin we’ve come to expect from these guys. In contrast, the second track which plays host to Lauri Leino’s Alone in Detroit, is an elegant, classic building house track. Opening with a tight imposing groove the track progresses and slowly loosens up with the addition of its fluttering sounds.

The B side is where this EP really comes to life with the transcendental drones in Kalle-M’s Lost in Kemi and the dub by Tm Shuffle. Kalle-M’s track pulsates with energy from the off with metallic twangs and rattling hats, it really is electric. Tm’s track weighs in with a similar energy in the low end but really relies on its percussion for structure, a minimalist track executed superbly.

This glorious Nordic import is available from the 5th May and is being distributed by none other than Lobster Distribution, go grab yours now.
