Off the back of their individual efforts on Lobster Theremin and Rhythm Nation respectively, TRP and Ron Blanco, two of Germany’s hottest electronic music exports, combine to bring the second instalment on Down By The Lake. Julius Steinhoff's label got off to a flying start earlier this year with Saile's In The End release which featured an outstanding remix from the ever consistent Map.ache. This release serves more of the same with dreamy synths and crunchy kicks throughout.
The first track on the EP Emmy’s Tree gives a good representation of what’s to come; its introduction gently eases you in to the grumbling bass line which punches through the moody synths, a real roller-coaster. A2 is more of a straight up number - getting down to business and providing the perfect tack for warming up or winding down a party.
On the flip side is my favourite track of the EP in Lady Haze, a mysterious cut which progresses smoothly through a strong groove and meticulously detailed low end. Live slow, the final track on this release brings the EP to a close with a bass line fit for a sunny Sunday afternoon in the peak of summer.
The Live Slow EP is a culmination of hazy beats from two producers at the top of their game; expect to see more from both as well as this fledgling label. The release is available for pre-order now with sales expected to ship around the 30th of September.
